Available for Spring Seasons Only: This division is for all boys and girls ages 5 & 6 ( 6 years old if this is their first year of playing instructional softballl with Merillon AA). However, whenever possible and based on enrollment we do set up Instructional Teams where we place all of the girls together on a team's). The instructional program is intended to introduce children to the game of baseball. Instruction of the fundamentals, teamwork and fun of the game is stressed. The Instructional Division runs from opening day through Championship Saturday. The Instructional Division meets every Saturday morning at 9:00am. The morning is broken up into two periods of 45 minutes each. The first 45 minutes is for instruction. Children are taught fundamentals, throwing, fielding, hitting and running the bases. Followed by a second 45 minute period where t-ball games are played. Although there is a scheduled and games played, competitiveness is minimized and scores and standings are not kept. Every inning each team bats around regardless of the amount of outs or score. Games are played to a 45 minute time limit regardless of innings. All games are played at Merillon Field's.
