Spring
Description:
This
division of baseball is for children 11 to 12 years of age who were selected
based on spring tryouts. Our Majors Division is designed to continue the process
of learning baseball by focusing on baseball knowledge in advanced baseball situations. This is the
highest and most competitive division for Little League
baseball players. There are two or three games per week and practices at the
managers discretion. This division provides a higher level of competition that
prepares players for the transition to HS Baseball. All Little League rules will
be followed at this level.
There's one official A.F.U.
umpire at each game. Teams are assembled by a draft system based on a tryout for
all eligible players (new and old) and their previous year ratings and
performances. Scores and standings are kept with all teams making the playoffs
to play for division championship. All games are played at
Merillon Field.
Summer Description:
Summer Intramural: All players ages 9 through 12 (based on the child's Little League age as of April 30, 2011) who elect not to try out for travel teams or have not been selected for a travel team may participate in Garden City cooperative program. Merillon AA will organize and enter teams according to their age, with 9 & 10 year olds forming one group and 11 & 12 years old forming the other. Teams will compete against surrounding communities who also participate in the Garden City cooperative program. We do not administrate this league but merely enter organized teams under the Merillon name and logo. We will supply all teams with home fields and umpires for home games along with required equipment and uniforms. We have no control over rules, away games, fields, umpires or schedules. You must register with Merillon for summer baseball to participate. There will be a total of 12 games all of which are played on weeknights. This is the 8th year of the program and this offers a great opportunity for players who want to play summer baseball and improve there skills. Travel Tournament Teams: Towards the end of the spring season the League will hold tryouts which include all 9 year olds who wish to participate in local summer travel team tournaments. Please click this link for additional information; Merillon Sharks Travel Baseball.
Fall Description: At this time we do not offer any teams for the Fall Season. We do however ask each summer division coach if they would like to keep their summer teams together and play locally during the fall.
