Boys Upper Farms Division

Spring Description: This division is for boys ages 8 & 9 year olds. It is intended to further develop skills of throwing, catching and hitting along with the introduction of player pitch and base stealing. Competition at this level is not stressed. A modified version of Little League rules will be used in this division. Scores will be kept but no standings will be recorded. Since players at this age are not as physically developed as 10, 11 and 12 year olds the ball is neither batted nor thrown as hard as by older players (who pitch from the same distances), therefore enabling the players to develop a confident approach to the game. A injury reduced baseball will be used. All games at this level will be umpired utilizing in-house former players from Merillon. Upon completion of the season all teams will compete in a double elimination tournament. Match ups will be randomly selected, regular season games have no bearing on match ups. Trophies will be awarded to 1st & 2nd at the end of the Tournament on Championship Saturday. All teams receive a participation trophy. Games are played at either Dietz Dairy, Tully Park or Merillon Field's

Summer Description:

Summer Intramural: This division is for boys 8 years of age only, (based on the child's Little League age as of April 30, 2011) Based on registration enrollment for this age group we well enter teams to participate in the Garden City Cooperative Program (the "GCP"). Merillon AA will organize and enter teams according to their age. Teams will compete against surrounding communities who also participate in the GCP. We do not administrate this league but merely enter organized teams under the Merillon name and logo. We will supply all teams with home fields and umpires (for home games) along with required equipment and uniforms. We have no control over rules, away games, field, umpires or schedules. You must register with Merillon for summer participation. There will be approximately 10 games, all which are played on weeknights. This is the 8th year of the program and offers a great opportunity for players who want to play summer baseball and improve their skills. Games are played at either Merillon Field or various local away fields.

Travel Tournament Teams: Towards the end of the spring season the League will hold tryouts which include all 9 year olds who wish to participate in local summer travel team tournaments. Please click this link for additional information; Merillon Sharks Travel Baseball.

Fall Description: The "Fall Program" is designed for boys and girls ages 7 & 8 years old, based on enrollment. It is intended for training and development to further develop skills of throwing, catching and hitting. Scores will be kept but no standings will be recorded. To assist in the development of hitting skills, coaches will utilize pitching machines at a distance of 46' to provide confidence to the batter. Dimpled pitching machine baseballs will be used providing a lively baseball. All games are played at Merillon Field's.
