Boys Lower Farms Division 1st and 2nd Graders

Spring Description: This division is for boys in 1st and 2nd grade (6 year olds must have completed the "Instructional Program"). It is intended to further develop the skills of throwing, catching and hitting. Games are played using modified Little League rules. A injury reduced baseball is used. This ball is much softer than regulation little league baseballs. To assist in the development of hitting skills, for the first half of the season after a batter swings and misses on a 3rd swing a tee is placed out and the ball should be put into play, (No one strikes out).  Coaches will pitch to provide confidence to the batter. Upon completion of half the season the tee shall no longer be used and strikeouts will be recorded. Games are 6 innings long however no inning shall start after 1 1/2 hours. Competition at this level is not stressed. Although games are scheduled and played there are no standings in this league. Following the Spring Season, on "Championship Saturday" there is a skills competition with medals given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in addition all players receive a participation trophy. All games are played at Manor Oaks Field. Championship Saturday will be at the Merillon Complex.

Summer Description: The summer division is for boys who are 5 and have completed the “Instructional” program and boys who are 6  and 7 years old (based on the child's Little League age as of April 30, 2011). It is intended to further develop the skills of throwing, catching and hitting. Games are played using modified Little League rules. A injury reduced baseball is used. This ball is much softer than regulation Little League baseballs.  Players will participate in official games. Batters will hit against coaches’ pitching and/or off a Tee. Game rules are covered in more detail. It is intended to further develop skills learned during the Spring Instructional Program and Spring Lower Farms Program. There will be 2 games per week  nights only for a total of  8 games.

Fall Description: The "Fall Program" is for boys who are 5 and have completed the “Instructional” program and boys who are 6  (7 year olds move up to Upper Farms please click here). It is intended to further develop the skills of throwing, catching and hitting. Games are played using modified Little League rules. A standard "RIF5" ball is used. This ball is much softer than regulation little league baseballs. To assist in the development of hitting skills, Coaches will pitch to provide confidence to the batter. Competition at this level is not stressed. All games are on Saturday's at 9am at the Merillon Complex and begin on the first Saturday after Labor Day and conclude on the last Saturday of October. There are no standings in this league.
